How to Measure engine Oil of Enfield
You will find it small 1mm diameter dipstick attached to it. Wipe the the excess oil stuck on that dipstick. You will see a mark indicating the appropriate level of the oil. Reinsert the dipstick all the way down and pull it out. Observe the film of oil on the dipstick and correlate if the oil level is low or not.
Please note the oil is very precious resource on this planet. Do not change it unnecessary just for your satisfaction. The modern auto-mobile technology has progressed very well, and all of the present day bikes can handle the same oil much longer than it’s usual recommended duration.
In my 15 years of experience; all my bullets/vehicles did not have any performance related issues or seizures. I usually look for these signs if my engine really needs oil replacement –
1. The engine is too noisy and vibrating than usual – You really need to be in sync with the engine and keen observer to before drawing the conclusion.
2. The engine oil level is reducing too frequently – Engine consumes engine oil. When the oils is quite old, it’s not lubricating and therefore probably working below par. And when it’s not effectively doing its job, the engine requires more oil to make sure it’s running smoothly.
3. The engine oil is muddy and dark – If you take out a decent volume of oil out of the engine oil, you will easily understand the difference between fresh and used oil. It takes a lot of practice to check the quality of oil on fingertips, but when you start getting a hang of it, this is the easiest way to understand.
